Lord Of the Flies- Shape Of The Island

The shape of the island is a boat. The boat could mean multiple things. I think the shape could mean escape. It is also in a way sort of ironic because when they blew the conch shell the kids that were also on the plane thought that it was a boat coming to rescue them. Also in a way the boat is kind of like the island. Since the island is surrounded by water, just like a boat, but the only difference between the island and the boat is that it can't move. On page 18 of the book it says something about a ledge or a block sitting near the lagoon. I feel like that is going to foreshadow something important. I'm excited to find out more about the shape of the island and its significance.
