In chapter 8 of Lord Of the Flies they have a meeting. The meeting is different because Jack is leading the meeting. When Jack asks if they want him to be the leader instead of Ralph no one puts their hands up because everyone wants civilization to continue. Jack was described as "... Slowly the red drained from Jack's cheeks. then came back with a painful rush. He licked his lips and turned his head at an angle, so that his gaze avoided the embarrassment of linking with another's eye." when no one raised their hands. Out of anger and embarrassment Jack left the meeting and left the group. The group finds themselves better without Jack and they concentrate on the problem with the beast. I believe this foreshadows two groups forming, the hunters against Ralph's group (savagry vs. civilization) and they are going to have a war against each other (which is what is going on in the rest of the world while they are on the island). At the end of the meeting they made the conclusion that they need to stay close to the platform. Piggy also speaks up and this time the group actually listens to them. Piggy has the idea to move the fire down to the beach, this idea gets them a step closer to rescue. The feelings that Piggy are feeling when the group listens to them is excitement, and freedom since Jack has left the group. I predict a war is going to start on the island, a war of savagry and civilization.

LOTF Chapter 8: The End of The Meeting ( Question 1)
